골반 내염의 개요

여성의 자궁, 나팔관, 난소 등의 감염병을 골반 내 염증성 질환(Pelvic inflammatory disease, PID) 또는 골반내염, 골반 염증성 질환, 상부 성기도(Uper genital tract) 감염이라고도 한다.
골반 내 염증성 질환(골반 내염)은 임질균, 클라미디아균, 가드렐라질균, 헤모필러스 인플루엔자균, 마이코플라스마(미코플라스마), 또는 연구균 등 세균들 중 한 가지 또는 두세 가지 세균이 자궁 내막에 감염되어 자궁내막염, 자궁 주위에 감염되어 자궁 주위염, 난관에 감염되어 난관염(Salpingitis) 등이 동시 생기든지 그 중 일부에만 감염병이 생길 수 있다.
골반 내 염증성 질환(골반 내염)은 일종의 감염성 성병에 속하고 여성의 불임증의 주원인이 되기도 한다.
이상 설명한 여러 종류의 감염성 성병 이외에 B형 간염, C형 간염, 잡균성 질염 등 더 많은 감염성 성병들이 있다.
